Our mission is to provide our community with fresh, Organic produce and meats through our on-site farmstand and to increase awareness of Organic and regenerative agriculture through educational events.
Job description
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate person to join our Field Crew for the season.
Seasonal (March - November), Full-Time or Part-Time, potential for year round
Field Crew report to the Field Manager and Farm Manager.
Qualifications:
- A strong sense of urgency and purpose with a desire to learn will make up for any lack of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a small team (1-3 people) to accomplish short and medium term goals (i.e. daily harvesting, wash/pack, chores).
- Weekend availability, flexible schedule (within reason) to align with farm operations.
- Physical ability to perform tasks associated with farming, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly, standing for extended periods, bending repeatedly.
- Comfort and/or experience operating small and medium sized machinery.
- A strong understanding of Organic farming principles and a commitment to sustainable agriculture and a passion to learn.
- This is an in-person, on-site job and requires reliable transportation to and from the farm since we are located in a rural area with limited access to public transportation.
A plus, but not a requirement:
- Experience in the following categories:
- Seeding
- Transplanting
- Cultivating
- Bed preparation
- Pest management (IPM, Organic methods)
- Harvest, production scale
- Post-harvest handling, wash and pack
- Livestock management (broilers)
- Sales
- Maintenance and upkeep (tools, small machinery)
- Trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, service industry, cooking)
- 1+ seasons on a certified Organic vegetable or livestock operation
- HACCP training, food handlers’ and other food related education and certifications
- Education training and experience teaching children and/or adults
Hours:
- FT: 40-45 hours a week, 5 days a week, and a rotating weekend shift
- PT: 16-24 hours a week, 2-3 days a week
- Summer: 7am - 4-5pm
- Winter: 9am - 3pm (4 days)
- Each shift includes 1 paid hour of break/lunch.
- The position starts in March and must be available through the end of November, and we will give preference to candidates seeking year-round employment with a desire for growth.
Compensation:
- Salary: $16-20/hr, commensurate with experience.
- Free family produce and meat.
- 20% off all products in our store.
- Many, many samples, trials, and snacks.
- Worker’s comp, UI, FL.
- If successful, end of year profit sharing.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Leave: 1 week each of PTO and sick leave accrued after a 90 day trial period. PTO may not be taken between May-November in the first season.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $16.00 - $20.00
