Our “Producer Only” approach ensures seasonal offerings like fresh produce, flowers, and herbs, as well as the best handcrafted artisan products. We also feature a variety of ranchers providing chicken, beef, pork, and more, all raised locally. Our farmers and ranchers educate customers on their practices, enhancing the relationship between producers and the community. Additionally, you can enjoy fresh baked goods, hot or cold beverages, local honey, and a selection of hot food options, including wood-fired pizza and authentic tamales and flavor packed empanadas.
Additionally, we host a number of special events throughout the season with interactive activities for adults and children. And every week you can find live music and free yoga. Join us Saturdays, rain or shine, from 8am to noon, April through October. Come out and MAKE SATURDAYS GREAT!
Job description
Our team helps execute the largest producer-only Farmers' Markets in the St. Louis area. Get involved and take part in creating a fun engaging atmosphere every Saturday for our tight knit community.
This part time, weekend job is perfect for a community centered individual looking to continue to strengthen our markets impact in surrounding local businesses.
We have provided a basic outline of the position and the requirements for those that are interested in contributing to our community centered market.
Applicant requirements:
● Interest in bolstering the local producer community.
● Excited to engage our audience through special events and community outreach.
● Reliable transportation to market locations.
● Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
● Able to count change, balance a cash drawer, and log transactions of merchandise.
● Applicants must be responsible, accountable, and honest.
● Being punctual, organized, and coachable are required.
● Able to gauge the needs in a situation, ask questions, adapt a solution if necessary, and communicate effectively.
● Maintains focus while working independently, and able to strengthen a team too.
● Processes quality communication skill sets, and a firm understanding of using technology.
● Tolerant of Missouri weather extremes, we are a rain or shine market, must come prepared.
● Comfortable around groups of people and maintain a positive attitude.
Time Commitment:
Seasonal, part time position (12 hours monthly, April- October)
● 2 Saturdays / Month @ 6 hours 7:00am-1:00pm
● 3rd Saturday available for Special event days
Responsibilities Saturday at Market:
(Included, but not limited to)
Before Market (7:00-8:00)
● Coordinate market setup with Section Captains from setup/ teardown checklist (7:00)
● Display merchandise and featured information. Work and maintain an attractive “Hub”
● Vendor safety inspections (7:30-8:00)
o Check 12-foot fire lanes (vendors cannot infringe on this lane with signage or stall setup)
o Vendor weights (40 lbs of weight per canopy leg is required)
o Trip hazards covered (extension cords, and walkway hazards)
During Market (8:00-12:00)
● Assist with Special Event or Business sponsor arrival and setup.
● Coordinate setup and payment of yoga and music with Assistant Director of Market Operations.
● Assist SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) customers and vendor reimbursement.
● Help Events Coordinator setup and execute special events if scheduled.
● Gather community feedback at market through defined outreach channels.
End of Market (11:30-1:00)
● Execute and log SNAP/ DUFB reimbursements, total and log merchandise sales, balance cash box, receipts and run credit/ debit batch (11:30- 12:15)
● Coordinate teardown of market with Section Captains based on “Closing Checklist”(12:15-1:00)
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
