Club Sandwich in Tivoli, NY is seeking a kitchen manager to join our opening team! We are a brand new daytime food destination, opening at the end of March. We will serve breakfast and lunch, with a focus on sandwiches, of course!
We are a casual, counter-service operation with food made to order, as well as a small grab-and-go prepared food program. While not a formal restaurant, we come from restaurant backgrounds and are passionate about (obsessed with?!) food and hospitality.
The ideal candidate has experience in a busy kitchen, with some time in a leadership role. You will start by helping perfect and execute the opening menu we have built, but there is opportunity for the right candidate to contribute creatively, working together with the owners to add specials and new menu items.
You and your cooks will be expected to execute the made to order menu quickly, efficiently, and consistently. You will also be responsible for maintaining and growing a ready-to-eat, grab & go selection to be sold in our market. You will be responsible for certain projects such as executing catering orders & potential in house events.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Overseeing prep and service, making sure food is prepared consistently and efficiently according to set standards and recipes
- Working with GM to manage inventory, place orders, and manage invoices/reporting
- Working with GM to achieve labor & COGS goals
- Leading a small team of kitchen staff, maintaining a positive workplace environment
- Training staff as needed with the goal of consistency
- Executing or delegating the preparation of a once daily staff meal
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, in compliance with all food safety regulations
- Working with GM to schedule back of house labor, keeping in mind fluctuating business volume, events, holidays, and labor cost goals
- Establishing and honing in systems for lowering cost, waste and increasing efficiency
- Practice good communication with upper management/ownership as well as the staff
QUALIFICATIONS REQUESTED:
- Proven experience in the industry, ideally in high-volume kitchens
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A positive, problem solving attitude with an attention to detail
- Organization skills
- Food handlers’ certification (or willingness to get one)
- Ability to work a regular, full-time schedule
- Ability to regularly stand for extended periods & lift up to 50 lbs
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $23.00 - $26.00
