Part-time Weekends in our West Marin Creamery

We are Looking for a dependable, and friendly individual who would like to work weekends in Tomales (20 minutes from Petaluma or Sebastopol). No prior experience necessary. We need help wrapping our delicious cheeses, cleaning the creamery and other tasks designated by Head Cheesemaker.

We are a Marin County (Tomales) 160 acre, sustainable goat and sheep dairy (Toluma Farms), and creamery. Twenty minutes west of Petaluma, Tomales is a unique coastal community nestled above Marshall and the Tomales Bay estuary and is the gateway to Dillon Beach and Bodega Bay. We are Animal Welfare Approved and the land is certified organic.

We have goats, sheep and chickens and you would be working on the farm. You can read more about our farm on our website (www.tolumafarms.org).

We have a strong commitment to education thus have school and other tours throughout the year as well as farm stays for people to understand what it takes to run a farm in a sustainable manner. Job description

1. Work with the Head Cheesemaker to get artisan cheeses wrapped and ready to go to markets.
2. Flipping cheeses.
3. Work with Head Cheesemaker to manage inventory and ensure all orders are filled in a timely fashion, and markets are supplied with cheese.
4. Maintain stock of all items related to the position (salt, labels, wrapping papers).
5. Maintain hygienic conditions in the creamery following the GMPs and the Food Safety/HACCP Plan. Considerable cleaning is required using a variety of strong acids, soaps and very hot water.
6. Maintain accurate records as related to traceability and sanitation. Attention to detail is an important skill.
7. Work will be almost entirely standing.
8. Be caring, mindful and take pride in your work.
9. Enjoy steady expectable days.
10. We like people who are first and foremost kind, as well as have a good sense of humor, are obsessed with cheese (especially ours) humble, and did we say kind!
