Frey Family Farm is a 40 acre, WSDA certified Organic farm in Ashford, WA. We grow 3.5 acres of vegetables, and rotationally graze a small herd of beef cows, dairy cows, alpaca and llama. We also have a small herd of fiber sheep and raise laying chickens. We use organic and regenerative practices, including low/no till farming. We focus on maximizing and improving soil health on the whole farm.
We sell vegetables and microgreens through a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA), at farmers markets, and wholesale accounts. Our mission is to provide nutrient dense food for ourselves and our community. We support food justice efforts in two counties by donating to food banks and participation in farm to Hunger Relief Organization programs.
We are a member of the Lewis County Dignity Guild and the Rural American Against Racism Movement.

Farm Manager Internship Opening
Priority Deadline: March 20th. Rolling basis after.
Position Description
We are seeking one full time 5 days a week Manager Intern. This is a non-exempt position.
Duration: May 1st - October 31st. Winter hours may be available.
Work Days: Tuesday-Saturday. For the outdoor enthusiast, these days work great for our busy tourist community. We are located 5.5 miles from the Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park. This schedule would allow you to visit the park and surrounding areas on less busy days and times. 7-hour work days. 8:00 am- 3:00 pm until Summer, then 7:00 am-2:00 pm.
Duties:
Field Work—Seeding, transplanting, weeding, amending, field clean up and organization, watering, setting beds and irrigation, crop maintenance. Use of two wheel tractor, hand tools, precision seeders. Work according to farm standards and planting schedules.
Harvest and Pack- Harvesting vegetables and microgreens, packing each according to industry standards.
Farm Maintenance and Repair – support farm infrastructure and repair projects, assist with maintaining compost facility.
Animals- Assist with rotational grazing pasture movement of our herbivores and chickens. Move electric fences as needed for rotations. Collect Eggs.
Assist with maintaining records.
Potential to lead Field Crew Staff after 6-week probationary period. Pay increase with the addition of supervisory role.
Required:
Experience on a vegetable farm, one full season minimum.
Lift 50 lbs repeatedly and safely.
Eagerness to learn, and accept feedback with a positive attitude.
Excellent communication skills, detail focused.
Enjoy outdoor work in all weather, be able to squat, stand, kneel and lean over for an extended period of time.
Willingness to learn our farm practices and work safely and efficiently; by yourself and with others.
Desire to see a small business thrive, and desire to learn how to build economic stability in farming.

Accrued Sick Leave – (1 hour for every 40 hours worked)
Gear Stipend available after 6-week probationary period- $125.00
Vacation- 4 paid vacation days available after 6-week probationary period.
Pay- $17.66- 19.66/hr DOE Salary increase if supervising employees. Bonus based on farm sales possible at the end of the season.
There is a studio apartment (200ft^2) located off farm and owned by a neighbor-- 0.2 miles from our driveway- Rent including utilities $750.00/month
