Job description
The Hamlin School Culinary Services is looking for a full time cook to join our team for the rest of our school year, ending on June 13th. We are a group of dedicated chefs, preparing creative, healthy lunches in our scratch kitchen for our community of 500 students and staff daily. It's a fast paced but friendly open kitchen environment working with beautiful local produce from Veritable Vegetable and Greenleaf Produce and sustainably sourced meats from Cream Co. Meats and Golden Gate Meats.
Hours 6:30-3 pm
Duties and Responsibilities include:
DAILY
Responsible for assisting in preparation, cooking and assembly of hot and cold food on daily/weekly menu.
Ensure that all food is ready in a timely manner for serving at lunch each period, that it is cooked and held at a safe temperature, and that it is served in an attractive manner.
Responsible for helping replenish hot food during service.
Responsible for helping prep for the next day's menu (marinating/cooking meats, cutting vegetables).
Ensure that all prepped food is properly stored in a designated location; determine what leftover food can be reserved, what can be frozen, and what can be packed up for students or faculty.
Assist with organizing the walk-ins as needed.
Communicate with Culinary Director about daily prep lists.
Keep work station clean and orderly (cutting board wiped down, area clean and wiped down).
Requirements
✔️ 2+ year of professional kitchen experience required.
✔️ Passion for high-quality ingredients, efficiency, and hospitality.
✔️ Ability to work eight hour shifts, plus ability to stand, squat or walk for extended periods
✔️Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
