We are looking for an experienced, friendly, and passionate barista to occupy the coffee bar at our l’il slice of grocery heaven!

Who you are:
The Barista will ensure a consistently memorable café experience by accurately performing the day to day operations of the café and exceeding expectations with outstanding service. The Barista is to foster a joyful experience by developing a rapport with customers, and learning their names and favorite drinks. They work behind the bar with care and respect for their craft.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Delivers a high quality beverage, alongside exceptional service, to create a memorable experience for one-time visitors and regulars alike.
- Ensures consistency of high-quality beverages; maintains brand standards by following and adapting prescribed recipes.
- Stays knowledgeable about Pop Up Grocer’s current beverage and food offerings and preparation techniques.
- Responsible for the implementation of and adherence to both new and existing policies and procedures, including quality of drinks and opening and closing standards.
- Ensures prep area and station are cleaned and sanitized at the end of each shift, adhering to NYC DOH standards; restocks station for subsequent shifts.
- Assists at the register by taking orders and processing purchases in a fun and efficient manner; anticipating customer needs by asking inquisitive questions and providing personal recommendations with warmth and reception.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, latte art and equipment is a must. Minimum 1-year experience in specialty coffee. Ability to dial in espresso.
- A passion for hospitality, service, and coffee! Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates a proven ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Available to work flexible hours including: Early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/ or holidays.
- An outgoing and energetic disposition with a polished presence.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, climbing steps regularly.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist. Must be able to bend and reach overhead often.
Availability Requirements:
Up to 35 hours per week, 4-5 days of availability required and must be available to work 2 peak days (usually weekend days, weekend as described as Saturday and Sunday) including early mornings, nights, and holidays. Please note this position is hourly plus tips.
Pay is $20/hr.
