Job description
Become an advocate for healthy cooking and eating as a lifelong habit to prevent chronic illnesses, such as type 2 diabetes that is rising at an alarming rate in children. We have a clear curriculum, excellent support and tried & tested recipes that are easy to execute. Instructors commit to the full class series (usually 8 weeks, one day a week or more if you have more avai), make recipe selections, shop for groceries (fully reimbursed), set up/clean up for class, teach the kids (age 10-18), and liaise with school staff. KCL instructors create a safe and fun environment, encourage curiosity, teamwork and collaboration.
This role is ideal for:
Chefs looking to fill the weekdays with an extra shift
Parents with serious home cooking skills looking to give back to our youths
Retired teachers with cooking experience
Anyone passionate about passing on a love of food to the next generation
Guide children aged 10-18 to prep, cook and enjoy healthy recipes. Each class is one hour long and completely hands on for the kids, including cleaning up and doing the dishes.
Create a supportive and safe environment for learning.
Introduce kids to reading recipes, measuring ingredients and seasonal produce.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
