Job description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Delivery and Warehouse Associate loads, delivers, and unloads for the farm’s metro-RVA area wholesale and CSA Share delivery runs using a company vehicle. The wholesale delivery runs typically occur on Tuesday and Thursday from May-November, and on Wednesday from December-April. During the CSA season, this person would also assist in the assembly of and execute the delivery of CSA Drop Site shares on Wednesdays. This schedule may vary depending on the needs of the farm. This person may also be asked to perform other product delivery or pickup runs as their schedule permits. This role would have a consistent Monday through Thursday schedule, assisting with Warehouse related tasks on delivery and non-delivery days with the possibility of Friday and/or Saturday shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to:
- Receives delivery orders and route list. Including weekly wholesale orders and CSA Drop Share delivery.
- Assist in building CSA Drop Site Shares.
- Loads the assigned delivery vehicle in accordance with existing Standard Operating Procedures using the assigned product.
- Reviews all invoices for accuracy and special instructions.
- Executes all deliveries according to instructions, including access points, client check ins and receiving payments.
- Accurately records all payments, box credits or other adjustments on invoices.
- Agrees to use personal cell phone for communicating with Office or Warehouse staff to resolve any customer delivery or product concerns, and agrees to check phone for updates at each stop for updates.
- Safely and legally operates the vehicle at all times, and promptly reports any mechanical concerns, damage or accidents to the Warehouse Manager or General Manager.
- Upon return to the warehouse, removes all product boxes and packaging and puts it in its assigned location in the warehouse and removes all trash and personal items from the delivery vehicle.
- Maintains cold chain and good food safety standards at all times.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as requested. Which can include assisting the warehouse team to pack, grade, sort, and process necessary fruit for markets and wholesale orders.
- Other related assignements as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year or more of applicable experience OR any appropriate combination of the above
- Must be fluent in English – work related Spanish a plus.
- Valid VA Driver’s License
- A driving record that does not exceed in the last two years:
- Two 3-point violations
- One 4-point violation
- Zero 6 point violations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to tolerate extreme temperatures.
- Able to lift & carry items up to 50 lbs. and to repetitively lift & carry items up to 30 lbs.
- Good physical dexterity and visual acuity, with an ability to identify crops, damage and spoilage.
- Able to use hands, arms and fingers to carry product from the vehicle to client locations.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
