Benedikt Dairy produces delicious thoughtful foods from the beautiful working landscape of Shirley Hill, owned by the Shirley family for the past 300 years. We employ a small, talented and dedicated team. We sell our products through our CSA program and at our farm stand. We produce 100% grass-fed dairy products (yogurts, cultured butter, buttermilk and ice cream), beef, and seasonal organically managed vegetables.
Job description
We are hiring for both part and full time positions. We produce small batches of cream top yogurt, Greek yogurt, cultured churned butter, buttermilk, raw milk, raw cream, and ice cream 6 days a week in our licensed on-farm creamery.
Prior experience is preferred, but we can train you if you are just starting out in this field.
The ideal person for this position is someone who has an appreciation for high quality food, and living and working with nature. You're probably a good cook or baker, too. Ideally, you have a basic understanding of chemistry, and a natural urge to calculate things.
Even though you won't be doing animal related chores, you must be comfortable working near cows and other farm animals, and have good customer service skills. Other tasks may include restocking the farm stand and possibly some vegetable field work.
Attention to detail, strong organization skills, cleanliness, adaptability, works quickly and efficiently, strong quality control instincts, a love for record keeping, ability to work solo or in a team, clear communication, and a sense of humor are a must. You must be able to lift and carry 50lbs easily. Next level would be if you have experience making yogurt, churned butter, or have made ice cream in a commercial environment.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $25.00
