Job description

We're looking for a sales associate, someone who loves books, food, and drink, as well as helping people find the right books for their use and pleasure.

We need to fill a position working Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday. Hours are 10-6. Starting wage is $20, including a paid lunch break.

To begin, your primary responsibility will be receiving and shelving incoming stock. This does mean lifting heavy boxes (40 lbs and more at times).

But as you get to know our stock, you'll also help with packing orders, answering customer inquiries, recommending books to people who could be Michelin-starred chefs or absolute beginners. There will be chances to get involved with other aspects of our culinary bookstore, from writing for our website to scouting books from overseas, to planning special offers for our customers.

We'd love it if you have some retail experience--it doesn't have to be in bookselling--but a knowledge of food and drink books is more important. If you apply, please don't just say you love cookbooks: Mention a few books you really know and love.

Compensation
