Orchard Kitchen is a Fine-Dining Restaurant located on our 5-acre farm on Whidbey Island, in Puget Sound, just north of Seattle. Our menus are driven by the abundance of vegetables and fruit that we produce. Our menus change every week, not just with the seasons, and are based on what the farm has just harvested. We work with other Whidbey Island farms, fisheries, cheesemakers, and ranchers to provide our guests with an omnivore's multi course menu. Dinner takes about 3 ½ hours, and is more like a dinner party than a restaurant.
Job description
We are looking for a new member of our team. The most important thing we want is your desire to be a part of our team and to learn with us. That is far more important than your past experience. In the decade we have been open, we have trained our cooks in our kitchen; some of whom have graduated to Chef de Partie and Sous Chef levels over time.
You will work Wednesday (prep and maintenance day) through Saturday (dinner service only, Thursday through Saturday most of the year, Sundays only in the summer season (July through early September). You will work in an open, beautiful kitchen, full of light, at the island counter with 2 to 3 other cooks, including the Chef, Vincent Nattress. You will prepare everything, from scratch, each day. Our motto is "if it was easy, everyone would do it." We take no shortcuts. We butcher whole animals, ferment our own products, and start by harvesting our own produce from right outside the kitchen door on our farm. We create thoughtful, multi-course menus that emphasize the best available ingredients, most of which we grow ourselves.
The food is strongly influenced by French/Italian/Napa Valley cooking, with a nod to Japanese/SE Asian flavors (we produce a lot of the same ingredients and share the Pacific Ocean with them after all!)

Compensation
