Title: MARTA Markets Manager
Reports to: CEO
Department: Rx - MARTA Markets
Classification: Full-time; 3 year funded term with possible extension
Salary Range: $48,000 - $55,000 plus generous benefits
Job Description
The MARTA Farm Fresh Markets Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations of Retaaza’s MARTA Farm Fresh Markets program. Our solutions help hungry neighbors by creating a pipeline of fresh, healthy foods straight from the farm to food-insecure individuals and families. This hybrid role balances remote administrative work with in-person presence at our headquarters (Atlanta Tech Village), warehouse (Westside), and MARTA stations across the city. The Manager will oversee weekly market operations at seven transit stations, manage a team of market associates, and collaborate with community partners to maximize program impact. This dynamic, hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in mission-driven environments and is passionate about equitable food access. As a key team member, this role will work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure Retaaza’s mission and impact are effectively communicated in this new program.
Role Responsibilities Include
- Oversee day-to-day operations of 7 MARTA Markets at transit stations
- Manage (and hire as needed) market associates, create work schedules, and lead trainings
- Recruit, train, and manage market volunteers
- Track MARTA Market budget, P&Ls;, and impact metrics
- Collaborate with Supply Chain team on orders and receiving for the markets
- Fulfill various market reporting and invoicing requirements (ex. SNAP, MARTA, GF4L, sales tax, etc)
- Manage outreach with various stakeholders to promote MARTA markets
- Operate as the manager of and point contact for all MARTA Market partners
- Create and execute market marketing efforts (email, market sites, social media, etc.)
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and create proposals to support large-scale, future Retaaza projects
- Assist with grants received for MARTA Markets work and subsequent reporting requirements
- Represent Retaaza while interacting with cross-functional stakeholders inside and outside of the organization
Role Requirements
- A minimum of 3+ years of relationship management and/or business management experience
- Strong written and verbal communicator
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Creative, out of the box problem solver - able to just figure things out
- Comfort with hands-on management to accomplish tasks (ex. operating markets and being a backup if a scheduled market associate calls out sick)
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of community settings
- Access to a car you have permission to drive, when needed
- Clean driving record (required for insurance purposes), valid drivers license and comfortable operating company vans to fulfill job duties
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a startup or nonprofit environment
- Previous experience with, or knowledge of, the local food movement, food justice movement, agriculture industry, and/or community organizations particularly involved in food
- Broad knowledge and understanding of community-based services around sustainability, food security, and food waste
- Previous experience with, or knowledge of, farmers markets and/or retail environments
- Experience handling produce and other food supplies
