Job description

Chewonki is a place where nature, community, and education come together to create transformative experiences for campers and staff alike. As a Summer Kitchen Expeditor, you’ll be at the heart of our food service operation, ensuring that meals are served efficiently, accurately, and with care.

What You’ll Do:

• Be the bridge between our kitchen and service areas, coordinating meal delivery and buffet setup.
• Serve wholesome, delicious meals to campers, staff, and guests while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ensure food safety and proper handling, organization, and storage of meals.
• Communicate clearly with staff and campers regarding dietary needs and allergies.
• Keep the kitchen and dining area spotless, following cleaning protocols and upholding Chewonki’s commitment to sustainability through proper waste reduction and composting.

Qualifications:

• Minimum age of 17 and ability to pass a Criminal Background Check, required by the state of Maine.
• A team player with excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Someone with a strong work ethic who can adapt to a flexible schedule.
• ServSafe® or Kitchen Expeditor certification is a plus!
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in hot conditions.
• Willingness to live on-site and immerse yourself in the camp experience.
