Cheese & Board is a new, woman-owned cheese and charcuterie shop opening soon in Chicago’s West Loop. We’ll specialize in cut-to-order artisanal cheeses, beautifully crafted boards, and curated pairings. A thoughtfully selected wine offering is also in the works, pending final approval of our liquor license. Our mission is to bring warmth, expertise, and exceptional products to every guest experience. We’re currently building a small, passionate team of food lovers to help bring this vision to life.
Job description
The cheesemonger role is equal parts hospitality, craftsmanship, and product expertise. You’ll be guiding guests through our curated selection of artisanal cheeses, cutting and wrapping to order with precision, assembling elevated cheese and charcuterie boards, and maintaining the visual and physical integrity of our case. This is a detail-oriented, guest-facing role that’s perfect for someone who values exceptional food, storytelling, and creating memorable experiences around cheese.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with cheese, deli, or food prep preferred (but we’ll train the right person)
- Strong attention to detail, especially when cutting and plating
- Comfortable working with sharp knives and standing for long periods
- A passion for cheese, food, and hospitality
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced retail setting
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
