South River Miso Company is a family-owned business founded in 1979 and currently employing 10 people. We are located on a beautiful farm property in the quiet countryside along the South River in Conway, Massachusetts. We produce nine varieties of certified organic, unpasteurized miso. South River Miso is a naturally fermented food handcrafted according to a centuries-old Japanese farmhouse tradition. It is made with the understanding that healing food, wisely used, is our best medicine. Through online orders we ship miso to individuals throughout the United States. We also ship miso directly to stores and supply several regional, organic food distributors.
Job description
Position Overview:
The production team member will be trained in all aspects of miso making including:
· preparing and cooking ingredients,
· koji fermentation
· traditional mixing
· harvesting matured miso from vats.
This position will also assist in the following areas:
· maintaining production records and logs
· cleaning of the production facilities and equipment
· organizing and maintaining storage areas
General Requirements:
· Open mind, good will, and positive outlook
· Careful attention to detail
· An interest in natural foods and in developing the potential of miso as a healing food
· Ability to engage in sustained, active physical work, including lifting 50+ pounds
· Cleanliness and care with food safety protocols
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
