The Deli Manager owns the daily operations and hiring of the Deli Team. The Deli Manager ensures customer satisfaction and adherence to food safety standards, manages the budget, inventory, and ordering of products and supplies.
A Deli Manager is responsible for the following job duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Perform tasks essential to daily operations such as ordering and inventory, scheduling and payroll, hiring and staffing, and continuous training and development*
Provide direct and professional leadership to team members including but not limited to productivity, customer service, merchandising and food handling regulations.*
Develop and implement merchandising plans and/or follow guidelines and advice on merchandising plans that fit the identity of the business and meet the financial goals of the department*
Maintain the overall appearance of the department to ensure products levels are sustained throughout the day and food is presented in eye-appealing ways to showcase quality and increase sales*
Ensure strict compliance with all rules and policies, including but not limited to applicable health and safety policies and laws (i.e.- those that relate to cleanliness and sanitation) *
Collaborate with Product & Catering Director to craft creative and profitable plans to increase sales, promote items and gain industry exposure*
Analyze customer needs, questions and handle feedback in a professional manner*
Participate in the daily setup, maintenance, and breakdown of the Deli department*
Assist with store events*
Operate equipment such as slicer, toaster, microwave Slice, package, weigh and label product
Prepare sandwiches and other menu items according to company standards and customer preferences
Operate Point of Sale equipment

Required knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to effectively manage and solve problems and challenges
Able to analyze relevant reports, such as sales, P & L, payroll etc.

Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
Possess strong customer service skills
Able to adapt, be flexible and manage varying situations and issues
Possess knowledge of and abide by relevant laws and company policies
Possess proficient communication skills in English (to accurately convey information or ideas) in a manner that is understood
Able to proficiently read in English
Required Qualifications and Experience:
2+ Years experience leading a Team in a high volume Deli environment
Catering experience preferred
Required education or certifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Culinary Degree/Certification is a plus
Safe Food Handling Certification from an accredited Institution
Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
