Full Plate Farm is a certified organic farm, located on a gentle slope among oaks and firs in Ridgefield, Washington, 18 miles North of Portland. We specialize in growing winter vegetables for our 200 member Winter CSA, but also grow for grocery stores and restaurants in the Vancouver/Portland area, as well as a lot of tomatoes for our wholesale accounts. We are crew of 4-5 folks that love to work hard, laugh, stretch and grow vegetables. This is our 15th season farming and have a few things share and plenty to learn.
Job description
We are looking for a new member of our farm crew to help with all the many tasks on the farm- greenhouse management, trellising, weeding, planting, harvesting, washing and packing. Folks should enjoy physical work. Most of the work is done as part of a team, but the applicants should also be willing to work independently.
There is room to grow here. If you’re interested and passionate about a certain area of the farm, we’ll try and have you take more responsibility in that area. Our goal is to support team members in developing and deepening their skills while efficiently getting things done, while being mindful of our bodies as we work. We have recently invested in a few new tool to lighten the load and vary the tasks we do on the farm.
We are looking for someone 3-5 days a week, starting July(or sooner) and working into mid December with the option to have them continue through the winter. We are also open to having someone work through September, if they're headed back to school at that point. We're somewhat flexible.....
Roles and Responsibilities
- Greenhouse Management
- Greenhouse Seeding
- Transplanting
- Record keeping
- Weed management
- Use of a 2 Wheeled Cultivator
- Some light carpentry work. Using a drill and/or hammer here and there.
- Harvest/Wash/Pack of vegetables
- Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail
- Assist in upkeep of hand tools
- Communicate general crop health or other observations with Farm Manager
- Occasionally deliver vegetables from the farm at the end of the day.
- Random jobs around the farm from using the string trimmer to cleaning and organizing
- Irrigation
- Trellising
- Projects-We constantly have new projects we are doing around the farm, from building high tunnels to building new greenhouse tables. There are opportunities to learn some new carpentry and plumbing skills throughout the year.
Schedule:
24-40 hrs/week 8am-4:30pm ,July - Dec.
7am-4:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays from Mid July-Mid September. These are our Tomato harvest days and we like to get them out early.
There is an unpaid 30-minute lunch break each day and a 10 minute morning break.
Compensation:
- $17-$20/hr DOE
- Produce

Compensation
this position is: hourly, $16.66 - 20/hr
