Rio School District's Child Nutrition Services Department has implemented a robust Farm to School program for over 10 years. Our mission is to support TK-8th grade students' development as adventurous eaters, cooks and growers of nourishing food by preparing scratch-cooked school meals using local foods and engaging students in hands-on school farm and garden education. Our department serves approximately 6,000 school meals per day, manages a 10-acre, regenerative organic farm where food is grown for our school cafeterias and engages students in outdoor learning at the farm and in their school garden classrooms.

Request for Services- Independent Contractor
Overview
In collaboration with Rio School District’s Director of Child Nutrition and Wellness, the Farm to School Operations Manager and the entire Farm to School team, the Farm to School Operations Assistant will assist with managing and operating a 10-acre school district-owned, organic farm to grow fruits and vegetables for the school meal breakfast, lunch, snack and supper programs. The farm is also utilized as an outdoor learning lab for TK-8th grade students to engage in experiential agricultural education. The Scope of Work will support goals outlined within Rio’s California Farm to School Incubator Grant Project #2 awarded by California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

Contract Terms
18 month contract from July 2025-December 2026 with the possibility for extension and renewal. $35-$38 per hour based on experience, expertise and education. Approximately 32 hours per week and not to exceed 128 hours per month.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
