Job description
Job Title: Part-Time Sales Associate (Farmers Market)
Location: Fort Greene Greenmarket, Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Saturdays, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Compensation: $16.50/hour + 3% commission on total daily sales

Job Summary:
We’re looking for a reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable Sales Associate to represent Hudson Valley Fisheries at the Fort Greene Greenmarket every Saturday. You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating our market stand, engaging with customers, and selling our Steelhead Trout using the Shopify POS system.
Responsibilities:
Arrive promptly at 7:30 AM to set up the market stand
Sell Steelhead Trout products directly to customers using Shopify POS
Provide information about our products and sustainable farming practices
Maintain a clean, well-organized, and inviting stand throughout the day
Break down and pack up equipment at the end of the shift, ensuring everything is returned to its original condition
Handle payments and track sales accurately
Qualifications:
Strong customer service and communication skills
Prior farmers market or retail experience preferred but not required
Interest in sustainable food, aquaculture, or local farming
Must be punctual, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Reporting:
This position reports to Kay, our Farmers Market Manager. After an initial training shift, you will be working independently each Saturday.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $16.50 - 20/hr
