Company description

Founded in 2023, Turtle Rock Farm is a small farm located in the heart of Bedford, NY. We are focused on growing an array of produce using organic practices for local restaurants and direct to consumer markets. Turtle Rock Farm will eventually develop into a non-profit that integrates sustainable agriculture with community support, education and land preservation.

Our production space includes a climate controlled greenhouse (year round production), ~ 3/4 acre of outdoor growing space and a small orchard. As we continue to grow, we will be further expanding our outdoor vegetable production to roughly 1.75 acres. Shiitake mushrooms and cut flower production will also be added to our future crop plan.

Job description

We are looking individuals that are motivated, adaptable, willing to learn and also work well both as part of a growing team and independently.

The Farm Hand will assist in all aspects of production at Turtle Rock Farm including (but not limited to):

• Crop Maintenance
  • weeding
  • seeding
  • transplanting
  • harvesting
  • watering/irrigation
  • trellising
• Soil Maintenance
  • composting
  • amending
• Post harvest operations
  • washing produce
  • assisting with inventory management
  • packing orders
• Pest Control
  • assisting with implementing IPM protocols
  • scouting
• chicken husbandry
  • daily chores associated with maintaining a small flock of laying hens

Experience with farming or related fields is preferred. Availability on one weekend day is preferred but not required.

$18 - $22/hr DOE

The position is seasonal but consideration for extending into a year round part time position will be considered.

Housing is not available for this position

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $22.00
