Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated recent culinary school graduate for a temporary seasonal position in a private, formal household. This is a unique opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience not only in residential cooking, but also in the full spectrum of private household operations.
This role is ideal for someone considering a long-term career in private service and looking to build practical skills across culinary preparation, hospitality, event support, and estate management.
Schedule:
Friday through Sunday, full-time, seasonal (through end of summer/fall 2025)
(Live-in optional; Live-out preferred)
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Exposure & Support
- Assist the weekend chef with prep, plating, cleanup, and ingredient sourcing
- Learn and apply farm-to-table cooking techniques under supervision
- Plan and prepare fresh, seasonal meals for a small household under guidance from the household manager
- Shop for high-quality ingredients from local purveyors and markets
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization with attention to food safety protocols
- Support table setting and tablescaping for daily meals and small gatherings
- Assist with flower arranging and presentation for household events
- Set formal and informal tables, serve food and beverages during family meals and events
Household & Guest Services
- Greet and assist guests with coats, luggage, and refreshments as needed
- Participate in formal and informal meal service
- Help maintain common household areas in collaboration with other staff
- Assist with wardrobe care: care for linens and garments, including steaming (with lint removal and natural fiber brushes), folding, and occasional ironing
- Ensure proper care of fine china, silver, crystal and table linens
- Run errands and assist with vehicle readiness and organization
Team & Operational Support
- Collaborate with the household manager, housekeeper, and other team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Take initiative in maintaining inventory of food, supplies, and household essentials
- Provide flexible support as needs arise, including occasional pet care, organizational tasks, and light maintenance assistance
Qualifications
- Recent or soon-to-be graduate from an accredited culinary school
- Strong interest in private household work and lifestyle management
- Hands-on, self-motivated, respectful, and eager to learn
- Good communicator with a service-oriented attitude
- Enjoys working with children and dogs
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required. Candidates should have a safe driving history suitable for coverage under our household insurance policy. While minor past infractions (e.g., expired registration or parking tickets) are not disqualifying, we are unable to consider candidates with a history of DUI or reckless driving violations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Comfortable moving around a large home, including using stairs

Compensation
