The farm also operates a year-round Farm Store and seasonal farmstands while hosting acclaimed education programs, public events, and adult education initiatives.

The Opportunity
Queens County Farm Museum seeks a highly organized and mission-driven Education Coordinator to support the daily operations and strategic growth of its education programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Education, the Education Coordinator plays a key role in scheduling youth and adult programs, supporting program development, and coordinating across departments to ensure excellence in program delivery.
Queens County Farm Museum welcomes thousands of New York City students each year for hands-on field trips that connect classroom learning to real-world agricultural practices. In addition to school visits, QCFM offers a robust portfolio of educational programs—including afterschool enrichment, seasonal day camps, adult learning workshops, and interactive education stations at public events—creating meaningful learning experiences for audiences of all ages.
The Education Coordinator will not only manage the logistics and communications that make these programs successful but will also work in close partnership with the Director of Education to evaluate, refine, and expand the department’s offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations & Coordination
Serve as primary scheduler of education programs, including field trips, scouting workshops, off-site afterschool programs, summer camp, and other educational experiences (e.g., homeschool groups, self-guided tours).
Oversee daily scheduling and logistics for field trips and group visits, including communication with teachers and group leaders, processing payments, and coordinating educator assignments.
Maintain and update CRM systems and scheduling databases to track reservations, attendance, and outreach.
Ensure that all programming aligns with safety protocols and operational standards of Queens County Farm.
Administrative & Departmental Support
Coordinate educational materials, supplies, and garden resources; monitor department inventory and order within budget guidelines.
Gather and track data for departmental evaluation, program performance, and reporting purposes; assist with developing tools for ongoing program assessment.
Support the planning and execution of education-related events, workshops, and public programs.
Liaise with other farm departments to align education programs with overall site operations and guest experience.
Curriculum & Program Development
Contribute ideas and input to enhance current programming and support the introduction of new initiatives in line with departmental growth goals.
Strategic Growth & Leadership Support
Work in close partnership with the Director of Education to help grow the department’s reach, quality, and impact.
Participate in long-term planning for new programs, educational partnerships, and community engagement strategies.
Support staff training and mentorship for part-time educators, interns, and volunteers to ensure high-quality teaching and consistent program delivery.
Research & Database Projects
Assist with special projects related to research, data management, and departmental initiatives.
Support the maintenance and organization of internal records and databases.
Contribute to information-gathering efforts to inform programming and strategic planning.
Provide general administrative support on an as-needed basis for evolving departmental priorities.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree preferred; background in education, youth development, museum education, environmental science, agriculture, or related fields.
2–3 years of experience in education program administration or coordination in a nonprofit, school, or cultural setting.
Experience managing logistics and systems for high-volume programming; comfort with databases, spreadsheets, and CRM software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail.
Experience developing or delivering experiential or interdisciplinary educational content is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, problem-solve in real time, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work with diverse staff, partners, and audiences.
Comfort working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Workplace Conditions & Environment
· Full-time, non-exempt position; 40 hours/week
· Monday-Friday, with core hours of 8am-3pm, and occasional evening and weekend hours required for public education programs
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $25.00 - $25.00
