Company description
Mama Bread is a neighborhood bakery and market in East Nashville, Tennessee. We make naturally fermented country bread, as well as baguettes, milk bread and croissants. We use ingredients that came out of the ground not very long ago and not very far away. We stock those same ingredients in our market, so that our guest can easily make a great meal around a warm loaf of bread. We also serve coffee, because we believe there are few things in this world more lovely than a warm croissant and a cup of coffee with a friend. We don't do any wholesale, and we bake fresh throughout the day.
Mama Bread is owned and run by Jennifer Latham, a professional baker and author. Jen was formerly the Director of Bread at Tartine Bakery in California, where she worked for 10 years. She is the author of Baking Bread With Kids from Ten Speed Press and writer of Bread Book, with Chad Robertson. She has worked various positions in restaurants, cafes and bars for 28 years. This is her first solo venture.
Job description
We are hiring bakers! A little kitchen experience is best, but not as important as a lot of kindness, willingness to learn, and a solid work ethic. I can train the baking part if those are in place. Duties include mixing bread and croissant doughs, shaping, proofing and baking. Hours vary some, but are roughly 6am-2pm, or 8am-4pm. We are a tiny kitchen and don't do wholesale. Our production is set up so you can do every step and see your doughs all the way through- no 8 hour shifts of just mixing, only shaping, or standing in front of the oven the whole time. Tips are shared whole-house, so baristas and bakers make the same tip boost to their hourly wage.
Compensation
