Job description
The Bar/Café Operations Manager manages the day-to-day operations of Bar Heretic’s bakery/café and wine bar. The Manager oversees all front-of-house café and bar staff including baristas, cashiers, servers, bartenders and food runners.
· Manages the team of 8-12 employees: hires; schedules and approves vacation; submits payroll; provides feedback and motivation; trains on products, ingredients and processes; handles terminations
· Helps develop and document training programs for all FOH team members, and uses these programs in all team training
· Ensures exceptional service standards are consistently met and that activities are carried out effectively
· Collaborates closely with the Kitchen Operations Manager to manage staff, including assisting with pre-service tastings and trainings to FOH staff to ensure they understand menu items, such as tasting notes, pairing suggestions, allergens, etc
· Manages point-of-sale system back end and trains staff on best practices for POS use
· Updates beverage and food menus for wine bar as needed and ensures all menus are accurate and printed for service
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date bakery/cafe signage
· Orders and monitors inventory of all ingredients and products for the FOH operations of the café and wine bar
· Reviews financial information such as sales/costs and monitors budget to ensure efficient operation and spending within the specified budget; works to correct any deviations from the budget
· Inspects bar, dining area and storage spaces to maintain a clean and sanitary environment according to Department of Health standards
· Ensures all equipment is correctly cleaned and maintained, promptly elevates any equipment issues for service/resolution
· Documents, investigates, elevates and resolves employee and guest incidents
· Performs other duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· 2+ years of experience leading or managing a front-of-house café or restaurant team
· Strong understanding of steps of service
· Outstanding communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
· Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Restaurant Management or Hospitality preferred
· Knowledge of wines highly preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
· Food Handler’s License required

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
