We're now hiring a Produce Manager & Retail Associate to support daily operations and our fresh produce system.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Produce Manager & Retail Associate to support day-to-day store operations while taking full ownership of our produce system. This is a hybrid, hands-on role—part floor retail, part buyer, part systems builder. You’ll help grow a high-performing team, ensure an exceptional customer experience, and maintain a store environment that’s clean, efficient, and inspiring. At the same time, you’ll manage our produce sourcing and stocking, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and strong local vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Store Operations
- Support daily store operations, opening/closing procedures, and daily checklists
- Model exceptional customer service
- Help foster a clean, positive, and productive team culture
Produce Management
- Maintain a fully stocked, clean, and high-quality produce section in-store and in the walk-in
- Own produce sourcing: place regular orders (typically Sundays and Wednesdays) and respond to ad hoc needs
- Communicate directly with local farms and vendors to secure seasonal, cost-effective, high-quality produce
- Analyze and compare pricing across vendors to ensure affordability and strong margins
- Track spending and calculate weekly produce COGs for Boulder, Denver, and online sales
- Check deliveries, reconcile invoices, label and organize incoming boxes (First In, First Out), and identify missing or damaged items
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to identify and meet back of house produce needs (e.g. for jarring or meal prep)
- Manage pricing in the POS system and ensure timely updates for any price changes
- Work with the inventory manager to prepare produce boxes
- Remove spoiled items and clean shelving regularly to ensure top-notch food safety and presentation
Customer Experience & Store Appearance
- Create a welcoming, helpful, and inspiring shopping environment
- Ensure strong visual merchandising, clear signage, and clean, well-stocked shelves
- Train staff to communicate clearly and knowledgeably with customers
- Handle customer concerns or questions calmly and constructively
- Participate in restocking, signage updates, and store redesigns as needed
Systems & Process Improvement
- Build and refine lean, scalable systems for inventory, purchasing, communication, and training
- Identify operational inefficiencies and bring forward solutions
- Take full ownership of your role while supporting the broader team and company growth
You Are...
- A proactive leader with strong follow-through and a collaborative spirit
- Detail-oriented and obsessed with cleanliness, order, and quality control
- Flexible and quick to adapt in a startup environment
- Calm and grounded even when things get hectic

- A clear and confident communicator—both written and verbal
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years in a leadership role in retail, grocery, food service, or similar
- Experience in produce buying, food systems, or vendor relationships
- Physically able to lift 40 lbs and be on your feet throughout shifts
- Comfortable with basic spreadsheets and email communication
- Familiarity with inventory tracking, COGs, and POS systems
- Bonus points for experience in sustainability, local agriculture, or startups
Benefits:
- 40% off groceries
- Paid Time Off (PTO) of 1 hour for every 52 hours worked up to 40 hours in Year 1 (up to 80 hours in Year 2, 120 hours in Year 4, and 160 hours in Year 6)
- 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked
