Objective
4P Foods is seeking a part-time consultant to work closely with 4P’s Food-is-Medicine Account Manager to identify and develop new market opportunities for expanding its Food-is-Medicine initiatives with healthcare partners. In addition to supporting 4P’s current business development pipeline, the consultant will specifically focus on fostering relationships with strategic Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and other healthcare sector and government stakeholders, while creating pilot programs to deliver locally sourced Produce Prescription boxes to food-insecure communities in Virginia, DC, Maryland and North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Opportunity Identification & Development
- Conduct market research to identify MCOs, health systems, and other healthcare stakeholders interested in Food-is-Medicine programs.
- Assess the Medicaid policy landscape in Virginia, Washington, DC, and surrounding areas to identify opportunities for pilot programs leveraging Medicaid - including in-lieu-of services funding mechanisms.
- Strategic Relationship Building
- Develop and foster relationships with key decision-makers within MCOs, healthcare institutions, community-based health organizations and food access nonprofits.
- Participate in meetings with healthcare partners, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to advocate for Food-is-Medicine initiatives.
- Engage with state and regional health coalitions, including Virginia’s Food Access Coalition, to position 4P Foods as a trusted provider of locally sourced FIM solutions.
- Pilot Program Development
- Design pilot programs in collaboration with MCOs and healthcare institutions to integrate locally sourced
- Produce Prescription boxes into patient care plans.
Work closely with healthcare partners to define metrics for success, ensuring alignment with existing evaluation frameworks.
- Business Development & Sales Support
- Support 4P Foods’ sales efforts by creating proposals, pitch decks, and strategic messaging tailored to MCOs and healthcare partners.
- Assist in contract negotiations and securing commitments from healthcare organizations.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for sustainable revenue streams within the Food-is-Medicine space.
- Ongoing Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular updates to the Food-is-Medicine Account Manager and senior leadership at 4P Foods.
- Document key learnings, challenges, and opportunities to refine 4P’s Food-is-Medicine strategy over time.
Experience & Expertise:
- Strong familiarity with, and existing relationships within, MCOs and the healthcare sector.
- Deep understanding of Food-is-Medicine initiatives, Medicaid funding mechanisms, including Medicaid 1115 waivers, and healthcare partnerships.
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or strategic partnership roles, preferably within healthcare, food systems, or social impact organizations.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Familiarity with fundraising and writing grant proposals.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to work.
Compensation
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and time availability.
