Company description
At Stupski, we believe youth leaders play a vital role in creating social change in their communities. Since 2020, Stupski has had the opportunity to learn from local youth and young adult advocates to improve our grant-making strategies and deepen our work with community partners in the Bay Area and Hawaiʻi. Our internship program is for college-age youth and young adults who want to bring their ideas for social change to inform our work in food justice, postsecondary success, health, communications, and grant-making operations. Are you interested in learning more about the internship program and applying to join our next cohort?
Internship description
We are seeking two Food Justice Communications Interns to join our team and support and amplify the foundation’s food justice strategy through narrative and storytelling. These interns will learn about the philanthropic sector, grantmaking, food systems, and communications while helping to advance the
foundation’s vision for vibrant, equitable, and resilient food systems in Hawai‘i, the California Bay Area, and nationally.
Working closely with the Food Justice Program Manager, Food Justice Operations Specialist, and the Communications Team, the interns will contribute to projects at the intersection of food, data, and communication. The interns will gain hands-on experience in research, data capture and visualization, storytelling, and strategy-driven communications. Day-to-day activities may include monitoring and synthesizing news and policy developments; creating content for various communications channels; and attending grantee meetings. Ideal candidates are passionate about food systems, equity, and storytelling for social good; bring curiosity, creativity, and attention to detail to their work; are motivated self-starters who can manage multiple priorities; and are eager to develop data visualization and content creation skills. Lived experience in communities located in Hawaiʻi and the Bay Area of California, and an informed understanding of local and regional food systems is valued.
About Our Food Justice Work
The foundation’s Food Justice portfolio supports organizations and coalitions in Hawai‘i, California, and nationally that work to feed their communities and steward the land. We recognize that food is an expression of culture, place, and belonging, and healthy, accessible, and equitably grown food is the
foundation of thriving communities. We are dedicated to returning resources to Indigenous and community-led groups who are advancing a powerful vision for a more vibrant, equitable, and resilient food system.
