Queens County Farm Museum is one of the longest continually farmed sites in New York State, dating back to 1697. Queens Farm serves as a vital and rare resource connecting people to agriculture and the environment in New York City. The 47-acre historic site is a leader in locally grown food and the ecological well-being of New York City. The farm uses Certified Naturally Grown methods to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers on 4 acres of land, in addition to a 3-acre corn maze. The farm’s livestock program consists of several hundred laying hens, nine sheep, five goats, three alpacas, two steer, and two pigs.

Position Overview
Queens County Farm Museum seeks motivated, dependable, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Agriculture Team as Seasonal Farmers. Queens Farm is one of New York City’s longest continually farmed sites, cultivating over seven acres of vegetables, herbs, and flowers using sustainable and regenerative practices. Seasonal Farmers play a key role in all aspects of field production, harvest, and distribution, contributing to the success of our CSA, farmstand, and educational programming.
Our farm is a fast-paced and collaborative environment where we strive for both quality and efficiency in every aspect of production. Seasonal Farmers at Queens County Farm Museum should be personable, reliable, and strong team players who take pride in their work. Ideal candidates are energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a genuine interest in learning about and contributing to the cultivation of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Team members should be able to work efficiently in the field, greenhouse, and wash/pack areas, maintain a positive attitude through all weather conditions, and take initiative in caring for the farm and its crops.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all stages of crop production, including bed preparation, seeding, transplanting, weeding, trellising, irrigating, and harvesting.
- Support post-harvest handling of produce and flowers for CSA.
- Assist with the corn maze, the farmstands, volunteers, general ground maintenance, other Queens Farm programs
- Contribute to farm events and public programming as needed, including seasonal festivals, tours, or educational activities.
- Occasionally driving the farm vehicle offsite, weekend availability, and various special projects
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Serve as a representative of Queens Farm
Other related duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Passionate about developing a career in agriculture
- Has the ability to take direction, show initiative, and work well in a team as well as independently.
- Previous farm experience preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift 50lbs, and kneel/stand/crouch for long periods of time in all weather conditions
Compensation
$20/hour
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) from 4/06/2026 to 12/04/2026. The work schedule is generally Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm. Occasional weekend availability will be required.
