Highly Flexible Part-Time Personal Chef
Schedule: 2–3 days per week (flexible hours)
Pay: $30–$40/hour, depending on experience
Start Date: Flexible, first week of December preferred
Location: Private apartment near downtown Boise
About the Role
We’re a caring family looking for a kind, patient, and reliable personal chef to help our 19-year-old autistic son eat healthier as he begins an independent living program in Boise.
He’s working on improving his diet after a recent high cholesterol diagnosis. The goal is to increase fiber and reduce saturated fat, while keeping foods plain and simple due to sensory sensitivities.
We’re looking for someone who will prepare meals and snacks off-site or at our son’s apartment and gently collaborate with him to identify healthy, tasty, and approachable foods he enjoys.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion healthy meals and snacks 2–3 times per week
- Shop for groceries (with reimbursement) and plan simple menus
- Prepare food in his apartment and/or deliver freshly prepared, ready-to-eat items
- Adjust recipes based on his preferences and feedback
- Keep kitchen area clean and meals clearly labeled
- Communicate regularly with parents and program staff about progress and needs
Must-Have Qualifications
- Experience preparing (or knowledge of how to prepare) heart-healthy meals and snacks (low saturated fat, high fiber)
- Comfortable working with neurodivergent individuals
- Patient, kind, respectful, and dependable
- Ability to travel to and from Boise apartment
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Ability to adapt and iterate meals based on feedback
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Culinary training or coursework (or strong personal interest) in nutrition
- Prior experience as a personal chef or meal prep cook
- Familiarity with cholesterol-lowering diets
- Experience interacting with and/or supporting autistic individuals
- Comfortable using simple technology (email, texts and/or apps) for meal tracking and communication
