Company description
SNACC is a New York City–based nonprofit that empowers youth and their families through hands-on cooking, nutrition education, and community connection. Our programs combine food access with education to build confidence, creativity, and lifelong healthy habits.
Job description
As the SNACC Resident Chef, you will play a key role in bringing our hands-on food education programs to life. You’ll lead engaging virtual cooking sessions for our 3rd cohort, following SNACC’s established curriculum and helping students build confidence and skills in the kitchen.
The ideal candidate has a strong interest in cooking, youth development, education, and lifelong learning. You will primarily prepare meals and demonstrate recipes from your own home kitchen during live sessions with students. While the majority of the role is virtual, there are occasional in-person field trips and events, so candidates must live in or near New York City.

- Weekly virtual sessions take place on Tuesdays evenings
- This is a hybrid position requiring approximately 3–5 hours per week, with the majority of those hours on Tuesdays between 4:00–8:00 p.m. (some weeks there may be opportunities for additional hours)
- Training begins in December, and sessions begin in January.
Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly virtual cooking sessions, following SNACC’s curriculum and lesson plans.
- Procure groceries from local market to lead sessions (groceries used for teaching will be reimbursed)
- Facilitate engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environments for students.
- Prepare and demonstrate recipes live from your home kitchen.
- Plan and lead in-person field trips for students, facilitating meaningful, hands-on experiences.
- Help Plan and Participate in student orientation and graduation ceremonies.
- Help order and prepare materials and supplies for students’ cooking kits and sessions.
- Support and oversee food preparation, setup, and cleanup for both virtual and in-person activities.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering curiosity, teamwork, and creativity in the kitchen.
