Company description
Juniper Farm is a small, intensively managed cut flower farm in the Roaring Fork Valley, serving weddings, local markets, and wholesale outlets. We’re looking for a skilled, motivated Farm Lead who wants to be part of a very small team.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience farming and is interested in stepping into a role with more leadership potential. I am looking for someone who cares, notices details, moves efficiently, problem-solves, and takes real pride in the results.
Job description
As Farm Lead, you’ll work closely with Abby (owner/farmer/florist) to carry out weekly plans, help manage irrigation, maintain crop health, and keep the farm operational and thriving. You will also be responsible for harvest/sales at a weekly farmers market.
This is not a traditional “farm manager” role with a big crew and lots of delegation.
This is a small-team, high-ownership role where you contribute directly to every part of production including: planting, weeding, harvesting, bed prep, irrigation, market prep and market sales.
You’ll help shape the future of the farm while also staying hands-on and fully engaged in the work.
Weekly Schedule (Typical)
Monday – Big farm day: major projects, planting, bed prep, weeding
Tuesday – Harvest; wash/pack; prepare for deliveries/CSA/market
Wednesday – Off
Thursday – Off
Friday – Additional harvest, weeding, project work, prep for Sunday
Saturday – Harvest and prep for Sunday market
Sunday – Solo farmers market, engaging with customers and representing the farm
This rhythm may flex based on weather, weddings, and crop needs. We are open to discussing different 2-days off for the right candidate. Additionally, we are open to scheduling weekends you could take off on occasion.

- Execute weekly field plans (planting, weeding, bed prep, trellising, harvesting)
- Maintain high-quality flower production across annuals, perennials, and foliage crops
- Monitor plant health and alert Abby to issues early

- Maintain clean, organized workspaces
Prep beds efficiently using small-scale tools and systems

- Prepare buckets, organize cooler space, and maintain quality control
- Load and prep for Sunday markets and weekly deliveries

- Represent Juniper Farm with professionalism, warmth, and product knowledge
- Manage sales, customer conversations, and booth flow
- Keep track of inventory + weekly market notes
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work in sync with owner and small crew
- Communicate clearly about daily progress, needs, or issues
- Help guide seasonal staff or volunteers
- Be proactive, responsible, and able to make independent decisions
- Bring positive energy to a small, hardworking team
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of hands-on farm experience (flowers a bonus)
- Comfortable with irrigation systems or ready to learn quickly
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all conditions
