Job description
We're looking for a passionate manager to join our team and support the founder/owner in pre-launch tasks 1-2 hours per week (paid $25 hourly) until both transition to full time before the store launch.
Upon store opening, they will assist in leading the daily operations of the market and cafe. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a startup dedicated to supporting local farmers and providing our community with high-quality, locally sourced food.
As the Assistant Store Manager, you'll be pivotal to the business success, responsible for everything from creating an outstanding customer experience to managing day-to-day operations and nurturing our relationships with local vendors. This is a hands-on role that requires a leader who is ready to hustle and grow with us.
Position Details
Hours: approximately 40-50 hours per week
Compensation: $40-50k, salaried
Vacation: 3 weeks, paid
Benefits: $300 monthly Health care stipend, 20% discount, free coffee.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership:
- Leading the operations of the store's cafe
- Assist in overseeing all daily operations of the market and cafe, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment
- Assist in managing and training a small team, fostering a positive, collaborative work culture for all employees.
- Work with the owner and HR when an HR situation arises, participating as appropriate in HR processes.
- Ensure all health, safety, and quality standards are met and exceeded
Facilities and Inventory Maintenance
- Assist with coordination of maintenance for refrigeration and other equipment. Maintain positive relationships with various repair companies, contractors and helpful humans.
- Assist with preparedness for routine inspections and emergencies
Customer Service & Community Engagement:
- Lead by example to provide exceptional customer service, creating a friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere for every person who walks through our doors
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns with a professional and positive attitude
- Act as a community ambassador, communicating our mission and values to customers and vendors
- Assist in event planning and community outreach efforts
Vendor Relations:
- Assist in recruiting new vendors and strengthening relationships with our local farmers and producers
- Coordinate product orders, deliveries, and inventory with vendors to ensure a fresh and diverse selection
Growth & Development:
- Work closely with the owner to identify opportunities to grow, streamline processes, and develop new initiatives
- Contribute ideas and energy to help shape the future of our business

Preferred:
- Experience in a cafe or coffee shop
- Previous management experience
- Experience working with farmers

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $35,568* - $50,000
