Job description
We’re looking for a Market Steward to join our small, collaborative team. This dynamic, guest-facing role blends hospitality, purchasing, and retail management—ideal for someone who loves local food, thrives in a team setting, and takes pride in building a thoughtful, visually appealing and well-stocked market.
What You’ll Do
Guest Experience & Service
-Create a welcoming atmosphere for guests and regulars
-Offer thoughtful product and menu recommendations
-Hospitality support: Table service, taking orders, expediting, clearing tables, occasional bar support
-Represent HEX Superette’s mission with care and enthusiasm
Market Operations & Purchasing
-Manage all vendor and distributor orders for the market—from small producers to regional suppliers
-Maintain clear, timely, and organized email communication with vendors and the internal team as a core part of daily operations
-Track inventory, restock shelves, displays and maintain accurate POS data
-Maintain strong relationships with vendors and producers; coordinate deliveries and invoicing
-Coordinate online ordering, pickup and delivery
-Keep the market clean, organized, and visually engaging
-Work collaboratively with bar and kitchen on sourcing and inventory
What We’re Looking For
-2+ years in food service, hospitality, or retail (inventory or purchasing experience a plus)
-Confident communicator and relationship builder
-Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
-Comfortable using POS systems (Square), Google Workspace, good email etiquette
-Enthusiastic about local sourcing, fermentation, and seasonal foods
-A reliable teammate who takes pride in their work and helps wherever needed
-Weekend and evening availability (we are closed Mondays and Tuesdays currently)
-Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stay on your feet for extended periods
What We Offer
-$20 - $22/hour starting rate, Depending on experience.
-Performance-based raise after 3 months, pending review
