For 15 years, Depanneur has been a cherished neighborhood cornerstone, serving up more than just sandwiches—we serve connection and comfort. We take pride in our unique identity, crafting delicious food that celebrates the best of local offerings alongside a curated selection of foreign delicacies. We are looking for a Kitchen Manager who shares our passion for quality and community to help lead our dedicated team.
As the Kitchen Manager, you will be the heart of our kitchen. You are a hands-on leader and a food enthusiast who understands the craft behind a perfect sandwich and the joy of discovering new flavors. Your primary focus will be on maintaining our high standards, fostering our positive team culture, and ensuring every customer receives the quality they've come to expect from us.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence & Leadership:
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring all procedures and standards for quality, safety, and sanitation are maintained.
- Be the pillar of our kitchen culture, leading by example and ensuring all team members are doing their part to deliver excellent service.
- Lead, train, and motivate our kitchen team
- Effectively collaborate with other departments to ensure good service.
- Manage kitchen inventory, with an eye for price adjustments, recipe management, and effective purchasing
Culinary Innovation & Service Management:
- Bring your genuine love for food to our menu, with an enthusiasm for recipe creation, especially for specials and new sandwich offerings.
- Delegate tasks effectively during down time to maximize productivity and preparation.
- Assess team needs dynamically during unforeseen rushes, stepping in to support and guide the team to maintain smooth service.
- Uphold our commitment to freshness and quality in every dish we prepare.
Team Development & Communication:
- Address concerns with team members promptly and fairly, bringing larger issues to upper management as needed.
- Foster the warm, collaborative, and respectful work environment we're known for.
- Maintain an open mind to changes and proactively suggest ideas for improvement in operations, menu, and culture.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in a kitchen leadership role (Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or Sous Chef).
- A genuine love for food and a creative mindset, with experience in or a strong desire for recipe creation.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead by example.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- A calm, adaptable leader who thrives in the fast-paced rhythm of a beloved local shop.
