We refer to our residents as “guests” and welcome them into a supportive community environment made up of staff and their families most of whom live on the 700-acre campus. We help adults with depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia and other challenges rebuild and regain their lives. Gould Farm offers a full continuum of services that includes individual sessions with a dedicated clinician. Programs in both Boston and the Berkshires provide transitional support for guests ready to live more independently. Vocational counseling is available for those preparing to return to school or work.

Gould Farm
Roadside Store & Cafe - Grill Cook (Full-Time)
Join a dynamic team dedicated to healing, recovery, and reimagining mental health treatment. Reporting to the Roadside Manager (and Assistant Manager in their absence), the Grill Cook is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the store and café, with a focus on food preparation and cooking. This includes fostering a welcoming environment where the general public can connect with the people and mission of Gould Farm through great prepared food, quality service, and a market featuring Gould Farm products. The Grill Cook helps maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized venue while ensuring food quality and consistency. This position is responsible for promoting the values of Gould Farm, reflected in the Mission Statement, and participation as a contributing member of the community.
Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cooking & Food Preparation
Prepare and cook menu items, primarily on the grill, ensuring food is prepared to order and served with quality and consistency.
Ensure that all food items are prepared in accordance with Roadside recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including griddles, and other cooking appliances, following all safety protocols.
Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies for the day’s service.
Maintain a clean and sanitary cooking area, including equipment, counters, and utensils.
Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper food storage, handling, and temperature control.
Restaurant Operations
Collaborate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and communicating with the Manager for reordering supplies.
Assist with basic food prep tasks as needed, such as chopping vegetables or preparing ingredients.
Work alongside team members to ensure efficient and timely food service during peak hours.
Other Responsibilities
Create and support a work environment that is empowering for guests, volunteers, and colleagues.
Collaborate with staff and guests to ensure an environment where all participants' strengths, talents, and voices are recognized.
Meet regularly with the Manager or Assistant Manager for ongoing supervision to support professional growth and competency.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a grill cook or in a similar cooking role, preferably in a fast-paced establishment.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with a focus on delivering quality food and service.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations is essential.
Ability to assist with the integration of community feedback into continuous improvement.
