About the Job
As the Associate Butcher, you are responsible for buying for the Butcher department for your store, meeting your department’s sales and margin goals, and maintaining healthy and lasting relationships with our partners. You are also responsible for all day to day operations of the butcher department, ensuring a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by cutting, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
You will collaborate with the Central Butcher Buyer, the Lead Butcher Clerk, and the team of Butcher Clerks to ensure thoughtful displays and service throughout the department and store.

Meet all financial performance metrics of the department including, sales, margin and waste goals, as well as percentage of store sales targets.
Buy for the Butcher department in your store based on inventory, customer requests, and location-specific product sets and aesthetics. Collaborate with the Lead Butcher Clerk to ensure daily consistency in ordering and product offering.
Create and assist with PO creation, inventory, receiving, distribution, and overall management of the Butcher Department.
Organize and display all products and seasonal items.
In collaboration with Lead Butcher Clerk and Store Leadership, supervise the Butcher department team.
Monitor and prevent spoilage, regularly communicate waste to buyer/team and log in LOC.
Assist with monthly and daily inventory checks/adjustments.
Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.
Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
Follow and comply with, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards.
Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
Assisting the deli and butcher team on the service line as needed.

Physical demands
Must be able to lift 25 lbs
Must be able to spend 6-8 hours per day on your feet
Stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, stretching, twisting, reaching, repetitive stocking motions, repetitive food prep motions.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lb cases of meat and seafood repeatedly.
Handling of refrigerated products in a cold environment for extended periods of time.
Required education and experience
At least 2-3 years of meat cutting/butcher experience
Preferred education and experience
Experience with retail, preferably grocery
Experience with food preparation, service, and safety
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Must be 18 years or older
