Harlequin Produce is a certified organic diverse vegetable farm located in Arlee Montana that has been in operation since 2010. The business is owned and operated by Brian Wirak and Kaly Hess. Harlequin consists of a team of 2-3 year-round employees, 8-15 seasonal employees. The farm is 35 acres and we grow 20-acres of certified organic vegetables annually. We believe the success of our farm in part stems from having employees that feel valued and respected, we strive to create a working environment that is positive and productive.
We grow a large assortment of classic vegetables with our main emphasis in the following crops: spring greens, turnips, carrots, beets, brassicas – broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage, potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, winter squash, and melons. Our produce is marketed in two main avenues; wholesale through the Western Montana Growers Cooperative, and direct to customers via our subscription based programs which included a 580-member summer Customizable CSA.
We have six high tunnels, a heated prophouse, a warehouse and 5 walk-in cooler for packing and storing produce. We also have an assortment of appropriately scaled vegetable specific equipment that reduces our labor and increases our production. This includes a plastic mulch layer, water wheel transplantor, flame weeder, Scott Viner root harvester, 28’ harvest conveyor, cultivation equipment, tractor pulled seeder, undercutter, potato digger, and a 200lb capacity barrel washer.
Our mission is to provide high quality, certified organic produce at affordable prices. We value efficiency and ecology with an emphasis on production. We strive to grow produce in a manner that incorporates ecological principles while increasing yields.
Job description
Harlequin Produce is seeking a dedicated Assistant Warehouse Manager to join our team for the 2026 growing season. This person will assist and report to the Warehouse Manager and will play a crucial role in supporting day-to-day operations to ensure a smooth, efficient post-harvest warehouse processes, organizing for our CSA programs, as well as assist with other aspects of farm management such as harvesting and weeding. Once CSA season begins in June, this position will be split between the warehouse and field; with about 24 hrs/wk in the warehouse and 16 hrs/wk in the field.

Key Responsibilities
- Organize, build and wrap pallets for wholesale orders to ensure accurate and efficient delivery preparation.
- Print stickers and labels as needed for wholesale ensuring all packages are properly identified.
- Review and check the wholesale list to verify order accuracy before packing.
- Assist with set up and pack weekly CSA shares
- Assist with set up and packing of twice weekly wholesale orders
- Maintain and organize warehouse processes and space, ensuring an orderly and functional workspace for all packing and prepping activities.
- Assist and understand cooler organization of the 5 coolers on the farm
- Support setup and organization for root washing and storage crop processing to facilitate post-harvest handling and storage.
- Learn post-harvest process of 20 + vegetables and take part in post-harvest process training to continually improve product quality and handling procedures.
- Participate actively as a member of the harvest team, assisting with the transport, unloading and initial organization of fresh produce.

Skills and Job Requirements
Successful candidates should exhibit keen attention to detail, have good organizational skills, have strong spatial reasoning and logistical thinking skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be able to work both independently and as a team.
- Experience in either driving manual transmission vehicle or tractor
- Experience in using a pallet jack
- Warehouse logistics
- Optional experience in operating forklift
- One year vegetable farm experience is required or relevant experience
- Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
