General Farmhand
Position Description
The work at Sunrise includes certified-organic vegetable production, egg production, slaughtering chickens, and maple sugaring. The general farmhand position is primarily occupied with vegetable production: everything from seeding, weeding, transplant, and harvest.
Our 400-member CSA is entirely on-farm pickup. The job is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 4 PM with a half hour off for lunch. The position starts in April and runs through early November. Housing in an apartment adjacent to the farm is available if needed.
Qualifications
-We work in rain, sun, snow, wind, heat, and cold—preparedness and a positive attitude are essential for success. We also shift frequently from one task to another, so an ability to transition efficiently is important.
-We aim to work hard during work hours and then knock off at a reasonable time. You must be able to put in a solid eight hours of effort every weekday, lift heavy objects, and deal with whatever comes along. You also need to be able to work closely with other people, since most activities require joint effort.
-You don’t need to have prior farm experience, though that is helpful.

Compensation
