Job description
Role Objective
As a Kitchen Receiver at Farm to People, you will be responsible for the receipt, storage, and organization of all perishable and non-perishable items for the kitchen team. Additionally, you will interface with the packing team, managing the kitchen’s freezer space and its transport to the packing facility. Additionally, you will act as a support member of the fresh prep team, helping them produce and package fresh SKUs. This is a culinary role. You will report directly to the Kitchen Operations Manager.
Inventory Control Responsibilities
Receive and separate all food items, materials, and supplies for the Kitchen from the Receiving team’s daily deliveries
Check incoming merchandise against order sheets for accuracy in weight, quantity, and quality
Note discrepancies in the order sheets and deliveries, and work with the Receiving team to handle returns and notify relevant members in case of shorts
Maintain inventory and delivery records for the kitchen production team
Maintain Weekly freezer inventory for reconciling with the Procurement Team
Own organization of the freezer inventory, including labeling, FIFO, and replenishment, in tandem with the Cold Team
Own communication of stock to the Kitchen Operations Manager and on Slack with the Procurement Team
Remove damaged items from rotation and notify the Kitchen Operations Manager
Store all items at proper temperatures and observe first-in-first-out (FIFO) standards
Assist in transporting items to the proper location in the facility
Take dry goods and packaging inventory and send to Kitchen Operations Manager
Culinary Responsibilities:
Assist the fresh prep team with fresh meal preparation
Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as directed.
Label and date prepped items using FIFO (First In, First Out) protocols.
Assist with basic prep and packing under chef guidance.
Ensure labels on SKUs match their contents.
About you
At least 1 year of kitchen prep and/or receiving experience
Passion for cleanliness, organization, and teamwork
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for 8+ hours.
Must have great passion for cooking, vegetables, farming and hospitality
Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform basic mathematics
Possess a positive and collaborative attitude
Must be a reliable team player and comfortable working in a fast paced environment
Always ready for a challenge and ready to constantly learn and improve
Flexible availability: weekends, nights, and holiday availability
Flexibility to cover open shifts as needed
Nice-to-Haves:
Spanish language proficiency
Familiarity with a wide variety of produce and dry goods

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $17.00 - $20.00
