Happy Dirt’s operations team is fast paced and dynamic – its work varies day-to-day and across the growing
seasons. You will lead a small team of 6+ employees, working closely with one another to ensure high quality
produce is safely, accurately, and efficiently received, quality checked, packed, and shipped.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Warehouse Manager oversees many aspects of Happy Dirt’s warehouse operations and ensures its
systems and processes function efficiently and accurately. The role is responsible for several managerial
responsibilities (detailed below). This role’s day-to-day tasks will primarily support the Shipping & Receiving
team. However, this role is also expected to support sanitation, quality and inventory control, and fulfillment
as necessary.
This position is expected to assist operations sub-departments in their day-to-day tasks as specific busyness or
staffing may require (and as capacity allows). Happy Dirt’s Warehouse Manager is the first to lend a hand or
troubleshoot an issue to best keep all aspects of day-to-day operations running smoothly.
In addition to daily direction and support, the Warehouse Manager will assist with short and medium-term
projects designed to improve departmental function, as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or VP of
Operations. These may require creativity, independent planning, research, and effective communication with
staff across Happy Dirt’s departments, customers, and vendors. This position manages Happy Dirt’s QIC
(Quality & Inventory Control), Shipping & Receiving, and Sanitation teams. This position works alongside the
Logistics Manager and Fulfillment Manager, and reports to the VP of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
FOOD SAFETY & ORGANIC HANDLING PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
• Serve as a primary food safety/organic contact for in-house day-to-day food safety and organic
compliance
• Serve as secondary food safety/organic contact (after Ops Manager or VP of Operations) for Happy
Dirt staff customers/vendors, and certification agencies
• Ensure warehouse staff is following food safety (PrimusGFS) and organic programs, including food
safety/cleaning checklists and other compliance-related tasks and documents
• Participate in the company’s food safety team and help verify scheduled in-house inspections and
cleanings in the warehouse
• Help to generally maintain compliance with organic and food safety programs as directed by Ops
Manager and/or VP of Operations.
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
• Help facilitate repairs and maintenance for Happy Dirt’s facility and equipment (pallet jacks, HVAC,
coolers etc) with Ops Manager and/or VP of Operations
• Help manage facility-related tenant needs
• Be first point-of-contact for burglary alarm phone tree
• Help manage and execute facility improvement projects
COMMUNICATION & PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
• Serve as operations’ primary day-to-day operations contact (and advocate) and help facilitate
communication within operations and across Happy Dirt departments
• Manage hiring process for new operations employees (QIC, Shipping/Receiving/Sanitation)
• Conduct scheduled staff reviews and manage any required disciplinary actions for QIC,
Shipping/Receiving, and Sanitation teams
OPERATIONAL PROCESSES
• Participate in day-to-day Shipping & Receiving tasks in collaboration with the Shipping Lead and
Receiving Lead
• Learn to complete all day-to-day operations tasks - shipping and receiving, quality inspection,
sanitation, and fulfillment, and be able to fill in for any of these roles as necessary
• Ensure all operations departments are running smoothly day-to-day and help troubleshoot issues as
they arise
• Jump into daily operations in other sub-departments to help during busy or short-handed times (as
capacity allows)
• Help facilitate after-hours issues if they arise

• Familiarity with produce quality and handling
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Proficiency in business and inventory ERP software
• Experience driving an electric jack and forklift
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
• Full time in-person hours (salaried)
• Generally, follows the warehouse shipping/receiving hours of Happy Dirt (8:00am-4:00pm), but must
be on call to troubleshoot issues during all hours of warehouse operations (7:00am-6:00pm M-F,
7:00am-5:00pm Sunday)
• Helps manage a warehouse that operates +14hrs a day, 7 days a week

• $55,000-60,000 annual salary

Compensation
