We direct market our beef to our local community of residents, restaurants, and institutions. We are also active in acquiring grazing contracts for wildfire mitigation and ecological restoration.
Job description
Grama Grass is looking for a highly-motivated and professionally-minded individual to fill the position of Assistant Livestock Foreman (ALF). Ideally the applicant will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience working with cattle. The ALF will be a key part of our grazing operation across many properties throughout Boulder County. This person will be responsible for a herd or multiple herds of cattle, and will use adaptive stockmanship and temporary electric fencing to create positive outcomes in animal performance and ecology. The Assistant Foreman will work directly with the Livestock Foreman to coordinate daily responsibilities. Other duties will include basic veterinary care, monitoring animal performance, field irrigation, equipment maintenance, and herd tracking to maintain beef slaughter schedule.
This role is located in Boulder County, Colorado. It is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with a yearly salary starting from $44,000-$54,000, depending on experience. Housing is not provided.
This is a year-round position. Work days will be flexible, though the expectation is that most days will be regular 8 hour shifts. During the irrigation season, May-October, days may be longer, and there will be days where the Assistant Livestock Foreman works in the morning and the evening. During the summer, this team member may be asked to work 1 to 2 weekends a month, which may include a farmer’s market.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
