Job description
We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our opening team this December. The Sous Chef will be responsible for day-to-day kitchen operations, including staff management, workflow organization, and maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency. This role is also responsible for food costing and inventory.
You will work closely with the Chef Owner and serve as a key leader in shaping a kitchen environment built on respect and shared growth. This position is ideal for someone passionate about teaching people to become better cooks and fostering a positive, supportive culture.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
Manage food costing, ordering, and inventory alongside the Chef
Assist the Chef with menu planning and daily specials
Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff through hands-on teaching and guidance
Foster a culture of respect and continuous learning
Maintain recipe standards, ensuring consistent quality across all dishes
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness standards
Manage kitchen organization, prep systems, and overall workflow
Maintain vendor relationships and support product sourcing
Step in to fully lead the kitchen when the Chef is unavailable
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a professional kitchen
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff in a respectful, positive environment
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $60,406 - $75,000
