Company description
Hello! I’m Thomas, founder of Mr. Chompy Nut Butters (IG - @mrchompybutters).
We specialize in unique flavors and textures with an emphasis on our sourcing. We strive to be as environmentally and socially responsible as possible. Virtually all of our ingredients are certified organic and they are all sourced either directly from small growers or from a Fair-Trade Co-op like Equal Exchange. We use glass jars, which we re-use if customers bring them back. And the company car is electric!
Our mission is to elevate the perception of artisan nut butters. They are a high-energy, nutrient-rich treat that have the potential to deliver some of the most satisfying gastronomic experiences imaginable. When you taste our product, you’ll get what I'm talking about.
Job description
We’re looking for a Production Associate to help make the nut butter in our rental kitchen.
In the near future, we will also be looking for more Farmers Market Leads (FMLs).
The job is pretty straight forward. Here's what we do:
- Wash dishes
- Load baking sheets
- Load / unload the oven
- Grind the nuts with a food processor or melanger
- Load the mixer with ingredients
- Help me lift the mixer bowl (~80-100 LB with product) on to the table
- Label and fill jars
- Unload / load my car
For now, I'm with you for the whole shift. If it works out, you would eventually be the Lead Production Associate, get paid more, and work with the new you.
The kitchen is air conditioned, and a good size. I give us a very reasonable amount of time to get everything done, so it's a relaxed environment. That said, we're on a semi-tight schedule. I'm open to playing most kinds of music. Most of my past helpers have said they enjoyed the experience!
Requirements:
- Food Handler Certificate within 30 days of starting
- Ability to lift 50 LBs
- Ability to be on feet for long stretches
I am currently rehabilitating from a knee issue, so I sit as much as I can. So for now, I ask that you handle more of the standing tasks like loading the oven and washing the dishes.
Brass Tacks:
- The pay is $23/hour
- Kitchen address: 3212 E Olympic BLVD Los Angeles, CA 90023 (Boyle Heights)
- Shifts are usually 8AM-4PM, 9AM-5PM, or 10AM-6PM
- 30% discount on the product
The FML role that I will want to fill soon will consist of:
Receiving or picking up the product
Setting up the table and tent (if its an outdoor market)
Actively sampling the product
Keeping track of what’s being sold
Packing up the setup
Because nut butters are somewhat of a niche product at a farmers market, we have to be proactive about getting people to sample the product
