Company description
Operations & Growth Manager (Path to Partnership)
Location: Moyie Springs, Idaho (very rural)
Housing: Optional, limited availability
Type: Full-time, long-term
About the Business
We are a founder-led agricultural business focused on organic garlic production, wholesale distribution, and direct-to-consumer sales. Our work combines hands-on farming, seasonal logistics, and long-standing relationships with independent grocers and co-ops across the Mountain West and beyond.
We are intentionally small, values-driven, and growing carefully. This role is for someone who wants to build trust, learn deeply, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
The Role
We are seeking an Operations & Growth Manager to work closely with the founder and gradually assume responsibility for day-to-day operations, administrative systems, and growth initiatives.
This role is intentionally designed for someone seeking a long-term position with earned responsibility. Decision-making authority increases over 1–2 years based on demonstrated judgment, reliability, and results.
This is not a fast-track role, and it is not a short-term opportunity.
Initial Responsibilities
• Day-to-day operational coordination (orders, inventory, fulfillment, logistics)
• Bookkeeping support: invoicing, expense tracking, basic financial reporting
• Managing systems for wholesale and online sales
• Maintaining accuracy, organization, and follow-through
• Working closely with the founder to understand how decisions are made
Growth Over Time
As trust and competence are demonstrated, this role can grow to include:
• Ownership of defined financial processes and budgets
• Proposing and executing operational and growth strategies
• Managing vendors, systems, and workflows independently
• Using digital tools (including AI and e-commerce systems) to improve efficiency
• Meaningful input into long-term business direction
Who This Role Is For
• Comfortable learning before leading
• Values structure, accountability, and clarity
• Experience in operations, administration, bookkeeping, or small business systems
• Interested in using technology and AI in practical ways
• Open to rural living and its realities
• Looking for a long-term role, not a stepping stone
Who This Role Is Not For
• Seeking immediate autonomy or equity
• Primarily a marketer or content creator
• Uncomfortable with financial tracking or operational detail
• Looking for a short-term or fully remote role
Compensation & Housing
• Competitive base pay, commensurate with experience
• Performance-based bonuses tied to clear metrics
• Optional on-site housing under a separate, month-to-month agreement
• Clear path to increased responsibility and compensation over time
Structure
• 30–90 day paid trial period
• Founder-led decision-making initially
• Clear feedback, mentoring, and growth expectations
How to Apply
Applicants will be asked to complete a short written application with scenario-based questions. Resumes alone are not sufficient.
Job description
About Us
Allicin’s Ranch is not a typical farm business. We grow organic garlic, partner with independent farms, and distribute to hundreds of small, independent grocery stores, food co-ops, and health food markets across the Western U.S. — from Southern California to the Mountain West and Northern Idaho.
We are building a company that keeps family farms alive, feeds communities real food, and proves that small agriculture can compete — and win — against corporate distribution.
This role is for someone who wants more than a paycheck. It’s for someone who wants to help build something real.
The Big Picture
You will become the right hand to the founder, helping turn a fast-moving, hands-on business into a scalable, sustainable operation. You will learn every part of the company — distribution, logistics, e-commerce, wholesale relationships, vendor management, inventory, customer service, and growth strategy — and gradually earn real decision-making authority.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a small business at the ground floor and grow into a leadership role with genuine influence.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
No two days are the same, but your work will include:
Coordinating wholesale garlic distribution routes and shipments
Managing inventory across multiple farms, storage locations, and sales channels
Communicating with grocery buyers, co-ops, and health food stores
Handling order flow, fulfillment accuracy, and delivery problem-solving
Supporting the founder with business planning, prioritization, and systems
Improving operational workflows so things don’t live only in someone’s head
Helping expand product lines (spices, pantry goods, garlic products, farm products, etc..)
Tracking numbers, trends, and growth opportunities
Acting as the glue that holds the moving parts together
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of wholesale and retail distribution
Improve efficiency of shipping, inventory, and fulfillment processes
Maintain relationships with farms, buyers, carriers, and vendors
Assist in building systems that allow the business to scale
Identify bottlenecks and fix them
Maintain accurate records and reporting
Support new customer acquisition and retention
Eventually manage staff and contractors as the business grows
Absolute Must-Have Qualifications
Highly organized and able to juggle many moving parts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable with technology (spreadsheets, order systems, email, basic CRM tools)
Able to work independently without needing constant direction
Willingness to travel occasionally
Deep sense of ownership — this cannot feel like “just a job”
Problem-solver mindset: you fix things, not complain about them
Desired (But Not Required)
Experience in food distribution, agriculture, logistics, or e-commerce
Background in operations, project management, or small business management
Familiarity with Shopify, inventory systems, or wholesale ordering platforms
Leadership or team management experience
Passion for sustainable agriculture, organic food, or community-based business
What Makes This Role Special
You won’t be a cog in a machine. You’ll help build the machine.
As trust grows, you will gain increasing authority over strategy, spending, and operations. The right person could evolve into a senior leadership role — even long-term partnership — in a company with real heart, real impact, and real growth potential.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $15.00 - $25.00
