We take pride in creating beautiful coffees, preparing to-go food highlighting locally sourced ingredients, and stocking a highly curated pantry full of unique, elevated provisions. This season we are also opening a restaurant/event space down the street called Good Wolf.
Job description
The Salt Market is looking for a baker to join our team for the summer season! In this role you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, including cakes, cookies, pastries, breads, and viennoiserie.
Ideal candidates for this role should have a minimum of 2 years of baking experience, as well as significant experience preparing laminated pastries. We are seeking someone with a warm and energetic presence who thrives in fast pace environments. This person should have good organizational skills, attention to detail and aesthetics, a sense of urgency and a strong work ethic. This will be a great position for someone passionate about baking, local food, and building community. The role is full time (40 hours/week). During the season, May-October, Salt Market is open Tuesday through Sunday 7:30am-3pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a bakery, specifically working with laminated doughs
- Available to work weekends, holidays and early mornings (baker hours!)
- Care deeply about the quality of their work. We are proud of everything we put out, and it is essential you are too.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have experience in a high-volume bakery
- Ability to work cleanly, efficiently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Maintains a positive attitude and works effectively as a member of a team
- Ability to follow recipes and techniques
- Strong knowledge and experience of bakery principles
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
