White Oak Farm strives to serve as a model of sustainable land use and living while also providing children in Southern Oregon with exceptional environmental education opportunities. Each year we host hundreds of students at the Farm through school visits and summer camps. We also provide robust school garden programming in three local rural schools each week. We grow organic produce for schools, food banks, and local customers, and flower and vegetable seed for several national seed companies. We also operate a native plant nursery for restoration projects and local landscapes.
Job description
White Oak Farm is hiring a Farm and Nursery Crew Member to live and work at the Farm beginning February 1st, 2026. We are an organic farm and environmental education center located on 62 acres in the small town of Williams in Southern Oregon. We are looking for an experienced farmer/handy-person to join our staff for the year and possibly beyond. The position will be available February 1st, 2026 and also includes work-trade housing on the Farm. We are looking for folks that are passionate about organic farming and homesteading, and bring a hard work ethic, attention to detail, and positive attitude to their work.
Experience for the position should include living and working on an organic farm and competence with aspects of production. White Oak is a diverse operation, with annual vegetables, seed crops, fruit trees and berries, animals, a native plant nursery, as well as a robust children’s education program. The position will have opportunities to be involved in all aspects of our work, with an emphasis on: seeding, transplanting, weeding, irrigation, weed-whacking and mowing, animal care (including goat milking), harvest, seed processing, nursery work, farm carpentry, eco-forestry, and environmental education. The position includes shared responsibility for animal and irrigation chores, as well as occasional farm caretaking while other staff are away. We are looking for an individual (or a couple) with the ability to communicate clearly and maturely; self-motivate; and work efficiently. Work-trade housing available in a rustic Tiny Cabin that is primarily accessed on foot up a steep path. There is seasonal road access for occasional heavy loads. The position has flexible hours ranging from 8-16 hours per week. Work trade for the Tiny Cabin is 8 hours per week plus $50/month for utilities. Pay for hours above the work trade is $18/hour.
