Company description
CatSpring Yaupon is the trusted steward of yaupon, America’s only native caffeine. We wild-harvest and craft regenerative, organic yaupon as a hand-roasted tea, a versatile functional ingredient, and an instant tea extract—all wild-grown in the sandy-loam terroir of Texas, delivering a wildly smooth, naturally sweet, award-winning flavor.
Naturally uplifting, our yaupon fuels steady energy, sparks joy, and supports deep focus—without the jitters or crash. Rich in antioxidants and alkaloids, it’s a mindful way to energize, restoring balance to both body and land with every sip. At CatSpring Yaupon, we’re not just making tea. We’re reviving traditions, stewarding the land, and building community—one cup at a time.
Internship description
Tea production apprentice role with training, responsibility, and growth into production leadership
CatSpring Yaupon is a Texas-based tea company producing yaupon, America's only native caffeinated plant. We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Production Apprentice to join our Brenham production team and grow with us.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with food, equipment, and systems and who wants to build real skills in production, quality, and operations. You'll train alongside our Production Manager and learn how a regulated food facility runs from the ground up: roasting, milling, packaging, inventory, sanitation, and workflow. As your skills develop, you'll take on more responsibility and help lead production shifts, train others, and keep things running smoothly.
This is a great fit for cooks, roasters, bakers, brewers, or food production pros who are ready to step into a more structured, operations-driven environment with room to grow.
What You'll Do
- Roast, mill, and sift yaupon using commercial production equipment
- Package finished tea, checking weights, seals, labels, and lot codes
- Follow batch sheets, recipes, and production schedules
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas to food-safety standards
- Complete production logs and quality checks
- Organize raw materials and finished goods in the warehouse
- Move materials using pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided)
What We're Looking For
- Reliable, on-time, and ready to work
- Strong attention to detail you care about doing things right
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work
- Able to follow written procedures and food-safety rules
- Organized and respectful of shared tools and space
- Interested in learning how production runs, not just punching a clock
Experience That Helps
- Food or beverage production (coffee, tea, brewery, bakery, creamery, commercial kitchen, etc.)
- Warehouse or manufacturing work
- Experience with GMPs, sanitation, or regulated kitchens
- Forklift or equipment experience (a plus, not required)
Why This Role
This isn't just a packing-line job. You'll be trained across the full production process and gradually trusted with more responsibility running equipment, overseeing shifts, helping train new team members, and supporting day-to-day operations. For the right person, this role can grow into a key leadership position within our production team.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
