Calyx Farm is a 2 acre organic mixed vegetable and cut flower farm. We have 4 unheated high tunnels and 3 caterpillar tunnels which allows us to grow from April-December. We also grow about 1/4 acre of cut flowers and collaborate with Half Hitch Flowers on a Pick Your Own flower field. We are an intensive production farm that focuses on low till practices, soil health and improving efficiencies. We prioritize producing high quality produces while also prioritizing our crew's well being and a supportive work environment. We think we have an awesome crew, and think you will too!
Job description
Job Overview:
- 36 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, with the option for a ½ day on Friday for 40 hrs/wk
- Beginning of April through end of October, with part-time work available in Nov and Dec if desired
$18-22/hour, DOE
- PTO, work wear stipend and Labor Movement support
- Overtime pay if over 40 hours/week (which is a rare occurrence for crew on the farm)
- Snack bin filled monthly and plenty of popsicles and ice cream sandwiches!

Responsibilities:
- Support the farm manager in the weekly field operations. This looks like planning the priorities for the week, assisting with recordkeeping throughout all tasks, having a keen eye for cultivation needs, plant health and time pressing tasks
- Potential operation of walk behind cultivation tractor and paper pot transplanter, depending on experience and interest
- Assist with irrigation planning, needs and fixes
- Lead field crew on project days (in collaboration with farm manager)
- Field work tasks include, but are not limited to, bed prep, weeding, transplanting, trellising, row cover and tarping.
- Participate in harvest days and wash/pack, and support the Harvest Lead and Wash/Pack Lead
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $22.00
