Company description
Children’s Farms in Action (CFA) is a Denver-based nonprofit dedicated to helping communities establish urban farms for city kids. Founded in 2013, CFA supports food desert communities in creating small-scale urban farms that engage children and youth in growing food for their families and neighborhoods while learning about nutrition, environmental stewardship, and community leadership.
CFA is a core partner in the Montbello Sustainable Food Access Coalition, a collaborative network of community organizations, schools, and residents working to ensure access to fresh, healthy food for all Montbello residents. Through school-based farms, community growing spaces, youth internships, and food distribution partnerships, CFA grows and distributes hundreds of pounds of fresh produce annually while serving thousands of youth and families through our programs.
CFA currently manages multiple school- and community-based growing sites (including Academy 360, Monarch Montessori, Struggle of Love Foundation, and the FreshLo Apartments) totaling less than one-third acre of production space. These sites function as both food-producing farms and outdoor classrooms rooted in equity, education, and community empowerment.
